Publication Ethics

Renewable Energy, Biomass & Sustainability (REB&S) is committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics and takes all possible measures against any publication malpractices. All authors submitting their works to REB&S for publication as original articles attest that the submitted works represent their authors' contributions and have not been copied or plagiarized in whole or in part from other works.

The following ethical guidelines are expected to be followed by authors, editors, reviewers, and the publisher:

Authors' Responsibilities:

  • Originality and Plagiarism: Authors must ensure that their work is entirely original and properly cite or quote the work and/or words of others.

  • Multiple Submissions: Submitting the same manuscript to more than one journal concurrently is unethical and unacceptable.

  • Authorship of the Paper: Authorship should be limited to those who have made a significant contribution to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the reported study.

  • Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest: Authors should disclose any financial or other substantive conflicts of interest that might influence the results or interpretation of their manuscript.

  • Data Access and Retention: Authors may be asked to provide raw data in connection with a paper for editorial review and should be prepared to provide public access to such data.

Editors' Responsibilities:

  • Publication Decisions: Editors are responsible for deciding which of the submitted articles should be published based on the validation of the work and its importance to researchers and readers.

  • Fair Play: An editor evaluates manuscripts for their intellectual content without regard to race, gender, sexual orientation, religious belief, ethnic origin, citizenship, or political philosophy of the authors.

  • Confidentiality: Editors and editorial staff must not disclose any information about a submitted manuscript to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, potential reviewers, other editorial advisers, and the publisher.

  • Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest: Unpublished materials disclosed in a submitted manuscript must not be used in an editor's own research without the express written consent of the author.

Reviewers' Responsibilities:

  • Confidentiality: Any manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential documents.

  • Standards of Objectivity: Reviews should be conducted objectively, and observations should be formulated clearly with supporting arguments.

  • Promptness: Reviewers should identify relevant published work that has not been cited by the authors.

  • Disclosure and Conflict of Interest: Reviewers should not consider manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest resulting from competitive, collaborative, or other relationships with any of the authors, companies, or institutions connected to the papers.

Publisher's Responsibilities:

  • Editorial Independence: REB&S ensures that the editorial decisions are not influenced by commercial interests.

  • Ethical Oversight: The publisher, in collaboration with the editors, shall take reasonable steps to identify and prevent the publication of papers where research misconduct has occurred.

  • Handling of Unethical Publishing Behavior: In cases of alleged or proven scientific misconduct, fraudulent publication, or plagiarism, the publisher, in close collaboration with the editors, will take all appropriate measures to clarify the situation and amend the article in question.

REB&S adheres to the principles outlined by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and expects all parties involved in the publication process to commit to these ethical standards.
