Evolución y Tendencias de la Economía Circular: Un Meta-Análisis de 2018 a 2024

Resumen

El objetivo de este trabajo fue realizar un meta-análisis de investigaciones centradas en la economía circular, para identificar su evolución y tendencias en el periodo comprendido entre 2018 y 2024. Para el análisis se utilizó el método de revisión sistemática, y en la codificación, extracción de datos y resultados se utilizaron las plataformas Dimensions.ai. (Digital Science) y Lens.org., cada investigación se evaluó según los estándares de calidad de la declaración PRISMA; los estudios relevantes se incluyeron en la revisión para su discusión, siempre que cumplieran los criterios de inclusión y exclusión. Se identificaron más de 874,700 estudios, entre literatura gris y artículos científicos, de los cuales solo se incluyeron 27 publicaciones, que representan lo más esencial de la revisión sistemática. Entre 2018 y 2024 se produjo un importante crecimiento exponencial de la investigación en economía circular, concentrado en unos pocos países, instituciones y disciplinas; España, Italia y Reino Unido lideran la investigación. Áreas donde se aborda la economía circular: ciencias de los materiales, ciencias ambientales y ciencias de la alimentación, entre otras. Finalmente, a partir del meta-análisis de los últimos siete años, la economía circular presenta una evolución y tendencias en los siguientes temas: desarrollo urbano, cambio climático, gestión de recursos, procesos ambientales, sustentabilidad, responsabilidad social corporativa, emprendimiento social, infraestructura verde, ciudades inteligentes y resiliencia.
